Prosecutor Seeks Dismissal of Charges Against Virtus Bologna's Vildoza and Wife
The Bologna Public Prosecutor's Office, under prosecutor Federica Messina, has requested the dismissal of the investigation concerning Luca Vildoza, playmaker for Virtus Bologna, and his wife Milica Tasic. The couple had been accused of causing injuries in connection with an incident that occurred on the evening of October 15th on the city's ring roads, involving an operator from a Red Cross ambulance. This request for dismissal comes after the notification, over a month ago, of the investigation's closure notice, which provided their defense lawyers, Mattia Grassani and Giulia Maria Bellipario, an opportunity to submit memorandums and present relevant documents.
The incident itself dates back to the evening of October 15th, following a Virtus game, when a heated altercation reportedly took place between the couple and the ambulance personnel who had responded to the area. The healthcare worker subsequently filed a complaint, leading to the brief arrest of Vildoza and Tasic by the police. They were released shortly thereafter, with the Prosecutor's Office opting against an immediate trial at that time.
Lawyer Mattia Grassani Comments on Vildoza Case
Attorney Mattia Grassani, who represents both the player and his wife, and also serves as legal counsel for Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna, commented on the request for dismissal: "We have consistently had faith in the diligent work of the Public Prosecutor's Office. This marks a very important step towards establishing the truth, which can only be one: the complete exoneration of the Vildoza couple from any accusation whatsoever. We are now awaiting the detailed specifics of the dismissal request issued by the Magistrate, after which we will determine our next steps."
The formal request for dismissal has already been served to the aggrieved party. Vildoza's legal team expects to receive their copies of the document within the next day or two. It is anticipated that the document will be comprehensive and detailed, outlining the reasons why, according to the prosecution, the initial serious accusation cannot be substantiated and why there are insufficient grounds to proceed with a trial against the two individuals under investigation. The complainant now has a period of 30 days during which they may choose to object to the request for dismissal.
