Anthony Gordon Proves Himself; Tuchel Praises Alexander-Arnold and Hall

Anthony Gordon is "showing he belongs" at the top level, according to England captain Harry Kane. Gordon's strong performance in England's 2-0 away win against Czechia followed his goal in the previous match against Spain.

Gordon scored the opening goal against Czechia in Prague, heading in Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross early in the second half. This made it his third goal in his last three appearances for England. He had previously scored against Argentina in the World Cup semi-final.

Kane, who also scored in the match, spoke to BBC Radio 5 Live about Gordon's form. "He's showing that he belongs at the highest level," Kane stated. "His performances in the last couple of games have been some of his best that he has played in an England shirt. He is relishing putting the shirt on and being one of the main men. He is an important player for us and he showed that during the World Cup."

Gordon also combined effectively with Lewis Hall down the left flank during the game. Both Hall and Alexander-Arnold, who had been out of the squad, were recalled for this international break.

Manager Thomas Tuchel expressed satisfaction with both full-backs' performances. Speaking to ITV, Tuchel commented, "Both good. The position in the second half suited Trent more than in the first half. Lewis did excellent on the other side. Credit to all of them because they deserved [it] and now it is important that we relax and enjoy the evening, do a good recovery and then prepare for Croatia."

Tuchel further praised Alexander-Arnold's contribution, telling 5Live, "He did very well. He had an excellent assist. Overall like everyone [he] was professional, top attitude and one decisive action." Alexander-Arnold's return to the England squad followed a long absence since his last cap in June of the previous year.
