Como 4-1 Manchester United: Match Report and Goals
Manchester United's struggles continued with a heavy 4-1 loss to Como in the Champions League. Nico Paz led Como's attack with two goals, supported by strikes from Anastasios Douvikas and Jacobo Ramon. Joshua Zirkzee managed a late goal for United, but it was insufficient to overshadow another concerning performance. The team remains winless in their last seven matches.
Within the first two minutes, Diogo Dalot had an early chance for United, set up by Matheus Cunha, but his shot went wide. Como capitalized on this miss almost immediately, scoring with their first opportunity.
Nico Paz received the ball at the edge of the box from Lucas Da Cunha. Given ample space, he turned and struck a precise left-footed shot into the bottom corner, past goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
Como continued to press. Douvikas proved a constant threat inside the penalty area. Although Harry Maguire headed over from a Bryan Mbeumo cross, United offered little else going forward.
Como claimed a penalty in the 19th minute when Martin Baturina went down under a challenge from Maguire, but the referee saw no foul.
Douvikas missed a chance in the 39th minute, firing over after latching onto a through ball from Yan Couto. Baturina also tested Lammens before halftime, while Bruno Fernandes shot over at the other end.
Paz Inspires Como as United Struggle
Michael Carrick made two substitutions at halftime, bringing on Amad Diallo and Carlos Baleba for Cunha and Andrey Santos. United showed more intensity initially, but their comeback hopes were dashed in the 49th minute.
Paz again played a key role, finding Douvikas with a pass. Douvikas evaded Matthijs de Ligt and calmly finished past Lammens, doubling Como's lead.
United struggled to respond. Mason Mount shot wide, and Como nearly scored a third, with Da Cunha failing to find the target from a promising position.
The visitors' difficulties worsened in the 57th minute when Baleba lost possession in midfield. Paz intercepted and advanced towards goal, scoring his second with a composed finish past Lammens.
Paz came close to a hat-trick minutes later, but Lammens made a save. United saw more of the ball as the half progressed but found it hard to create clear chances. Youri Tielemans' shot was straight at Jean Butez, and Fernandes fired wide.
Amad provided a rare spark with a powerful shot from 25 yards that Butez tipped over. Como secured their fourth goal in the 76th minute.
Substitute Kaiki delivered a cross for an unmarked centre-back Jacobo Ramon, who headed past Lammens.
Paz was substituted to applause shortly after, having scored twice and set up another goal.
United finally got on the scoreboard in stoppage time. Amad crossed for Zirkzee, who controlled the ball and finished from close range past Butez. This goal was a mere consolation in another disappointing Champions League outcome for the English club.
