Motonautica Show at Waterfestival: August Thrills from Viverone to Emilia
Italian powerboating continues its exciting run through the hottest month of the year. In August, some of the best national racers are competing in prestigious World, European, and Italian Championship events across Italy and Poland.
The action kicked off last weekend with the twelfth edition of the "Viverone Waterfestival," organized by ASD Rainbow Team Association and supported by the Piedmont Region and Piemonte Sport. This event delivered an adrenaline-fueled spectacle with races across three categories: F4, F2, and Formula Junior Elite.
Race Results
The F2 European Championship, held as a single event, was dominated by Sweden's Hilmer Wiberg. Among the Italian competitors, Tullio Maria Abbate secured tenth place, and Luca Fornasarig finished thirteenth. The Italian RPM team, with Alessandro Canzi assisting French driver Peter Morin in hull number 111, also participated.
Adam Wrenkler won the second round of the F4 World Championship, which did not feature any Italian participants. In the opening round of the Italian Formula Junior Elite Championship, Alberto Canzian (from Rimini, M.S. Projet Aquabike) and Gaia Genova (from Naples, Rainbow Team Association) tied on points after two heats. Canzian ultimately took the win due to achieving the fastest lap. Linda Apollinari claimed the third position on the podium.
The second and final round of the Italian Championship will take place in Otranto (Lecce) from September 12th to 13th, 2026.
Breathtaking Events Ahead
Following the Waterfestival, Inshore Motonautica events will continue in Rogozno, Poland, from August 22nd to 23rd. Here, eight Italian pilots, accompanied by Giuseppe Rossi, will compete in the European Championships for the F250 and F125 categories. Both are single-round events, meaning the continental titles for 2026 will be decided there.
The F250 European Championship will feature Massimiliano Cremona (the 2025 European champion and current world champion) and Pasquale Contento. The renowned Piacenza racer Alessandro Cremona, Massimiliano's older brother, will also be a key contender in the F250 class, racing under an American license on the Polish lake waters.
In the F125 European Championship, Italy will be represented by Luca Finotti, Gabriele Rossi, Daniele Ghiraldi, Nicolò Darai, Simona Fittavolini, and Davide Scarpa.
Grand Finale
August will conclude with another highly anticipated event of the racing season: the Grand Prix of San Nazzaro d’Ongina, in the province of Piacenza, from August 28th to 30th. Organized by AMD San Nazzaro and sponsored by the Emilia-Romagna Region – Sport Valley, this event will see F2 World Championship drivers and OSY/400 European Championship competitors (including Italian driver Francesco Simone Troglio) race on the waters of the Po River.
